English Language - extra information & clarification on name

Hello, my paternal grandfather's father was the brother of Antanas Ivaskevicius, who was born 3 September 1886. They emigrated with their family to Boston, USA, in 1905, where the surname Ivaskevicius became anglicized to "Ivas", and Antanas took the anglicized first name "Anthony".

It seems to me that when he returned to Lithuania, his Lithuanian compatriots must have just called him by his anglicized surname, Ivas, or, phonetically, Aivas, and it appears that this is the name that was recorded in certain histories. 73.249.208.164 15:56, 14 spalio 2022 (EEST)
