ny festivals, among which is the Weendahs-owin Weekoondewin, or the Naming Feast, which is held upon the occa-sion of giving a name to a child. Representations of the gods to whomthe child is to be dedicated are previously prepared and now laid before it.Whilst the meat is burning an old Indian offers prayer and then uttersthe name of the child, which all who are present repeat after him. Another ceremony is Kahgahgeshee, or Crow Feast. The meator fish is spread on bark trays, around which the invited guests sit likecrows around a carcass, each gormandizing to his fullest extent.
